At Gentle Dentistry of Las Colinas, you will usually have a crown placed on a chewing tooth after the root canal is completed. You will be more comfortable if you try not to chew on the tooth for a few days after root canal therapy.

After your appointment, take 2 Advil (Ibuprofen 400mg) and 2 Tylenol (acetaminophen 1000mg) before the numbness wears off. You may need Advil and Tylenol for several days.

If pain occurs when biting your teeth together, call the office for an adjustment to the height of the crown or tooth. If you develop swelling or pain that is not controlled by Advil/Tylenol, call our office. Our doctors may prescribe antibiotics for your swelling, and prescription medication to control your discomfort.
